Ella: The Beginning

Hey everyone, the completed short story from which I posted an excerpt the other day has no had a comb through and I would like to present to you Draft 1. I would love for any feedback you can give this. The ending is a bit of a cliff hanger which is what I intended, as once I have done a few more drafts of this, I am going to move on to the next...

Ella's Party

We got sooo lucky with Sunday's weather. Ella's party was wonderful and the turnout was great! I cannot believe our luck that we have so many wonderful friends in our lives -- both old and new! Singing Happy Birthday to lil' Miss Ella. Organic carrot cake cupcakes Reading her new book with her aunt Antje Some balloons escape into the blue sky..

North loop at Ella reopened after bridge repairs

All westbound lanes of the 610 north loop at Ella are now open after a major construction project closed them down for the weekend. Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation said construction crews had to work on a section of bridge deck at Ella. The freeway closure project also involved some major improvement work as part of a more...

Ella Gajewska Hats Again

So the hat logo story continues. Like I said "the first attempt" was fun but I failed to notice that it was to be black and white only. This time around I remembered:) I also got a new picture this time so not only was I starting over but I was starting completely anew which I liked because I don't really care for painting the same thing twice.

Help Ella

So. Last week, my gorgeous friend went into a psych hospital. She wasn't treated, in fact, she was told that they would discharge her by Monday, so that someone else who "needed to bed more than her" could be admitted. Seriously? Anyway, you can read more of the story here. So please do. And then share it. Because she needs help. I need help.

baseball ready {{Ella Publishing's take 12!}}

Did you take 12? I certainly hope so -- because it's one of my favorite projects to date. I LOVE having little snippets of a random day captured, usually nothing out of the ordinary. Beautiful. This month, the 12th happened to fall on a Saturday. And Saturday's in May are baseball Saturday's for our family.

Ella Gajewska Hats

I love Ella's hats. I have actually painted one of the of her hats in the past and blogged about it here:) This time she's contacted me to paint one of the pictures featuring her in one of her hats so that she could use it as her logo in her shop banner. She sent me two pictures - one of what she wanted me to go by and another of what she wanted...

Nonfiction Monday: All the Water in the World (George Ella Lyon)

This bio was a 5-star rating on Goodreads for me recently, so I'm sharing it here: All the Water in the World (Atheneum, 2011), by George Ella Lyon, and illustrated beautifully by Katherine Tillotson, is one of the most glorious nonfiction picture books I've read in the past few years. It is so simple and striking and poetic and exciting.

My first giveaway - Ella's Kitchen

When we were holidaying in the UK last year, I didn't have the time to cook and freeze food every night so we opted to buy baby food. Lily fell in love with the brand 'Ella's Kitchen' and when I found out they had started selling in Australia I got super excited and approached the company to do a review and offer a giveaway to one of my readers.
